The new VW Golf R has been revealed and it’s the fastest version of the iconic hatch ever. The all-wheel drive flagship Golf now has 296bhp, up from 267bhp, with its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive sending the six-speed DSG version from 0-62mph in a feisty 4.9sec – matching the BMW M135i, but still shy of the Mercedes A45 AMG, which cracks it in 4.6sec. Driving Skills for Life (DSFL), a free program sponsored by the Ford Motor Company Fund to teach teen drivers safe driving skills, will be coming to 31 more cities this year as part of the DSFL national high-school tour and community program. New sites for the clinic include Albany, N.Y.; Louisville, Ky.; Atlanta; Phoenix, and Boston. “There is nothing more important than the safety of our young people on the road,” said Jim Graham, manager of DSFL.
Hyundai Veloster Turbo confirmed for the UK
Just the other day – ahead of the SEMA show – Hyundai’s US boss confirmed that the new Veloster will be coming as more than just a pedestrian coupe, with plans to launch the Hyundai Veloster Turbo in to the US. Hyundai UK were unable to confirm the UK would get the Velsoter Turbo at the time, but hot on the heels of the news overnight that Hyundai will take the Velsoter Turbo in Australia, we’ve had an email confirming the UK too will see the turbo version of the Velsoter on offer when it hits the UK in 2012. Which changes the whole game for Hyundai in the UK.
